Why now
They say fish do not know they are in water. We are in a narrow, unrepeatable window — a time before artificial intelligence has fully reshaped how we work, relate, and understand ourselves; perhaps even before we can fully grasp what is changing. To capture the Before, rather than a retroactive After, may matter to the people who come after us in ways we cannot yet see.
Technology has always shaped human life. But the speed and scale of this shift — designed and deployed by a small number of people — has not invited the rest of humanity to weigh in. This project is a place for that voice: not the experts, not the engineers, but the teacher, the nurse, the parent, the retiree, the teenager. Anyone living through this.
What this is
A living archive of short audio and video reflections from ordinary people, gathered now and preserved for the future. There is no agenda beyond listening. Your hopes, your fears, your questions, your doubts — all of it belongs in the record.
With your permission, a moderated selection of recordings is shared on a public wall of voices. The rest are kept privately in the archive. An annual survey tracks how feeling shifts as the years pass.
How it works
- Record a short reflection — audio or video — right in your browser.
- Confirm your email, so the archive holds real human voices. You can still appear anonymously.
- Your recording enters a secure archive. Nothing is ever shown publicly without both your consent and a human review.
A note on what comes next
This project is built in the belief that an archive like this belongs in careful, principled hands for the long term. It is designed to one day be offered as a stewarded public archive — a way for the people building this future to also help preserve the voices of those living through it.
